In Zanzibar, is it OK to dress in all black?

However, there is a colour combination that should be avoided at all costs, and that is dark navy blue and black. That, for some inexplicable reason, is what draws in the monster flies that will bite you. However, there are many other alternatives available for non-specific safari attire. Everything from maxi gowns to cargo jumpsuits!

Is there nightlife in Zanzibar?

You need to understand that because of Zanzibar's Muslim culture and its history as a British colony, the sundowner custom plays a significant role in the island's nightlife. You don't have to wait around until it's dark out before you can start having fun. As soon as the sun starts to set, the lights are turned on, the music is turned on, and so do your spirits. This is a very important part of the culture.

Is a visa not required for Indians to visit Zanzibar?

Yes. Unfortuitously, India is not one of the nations whose citizens are free from the need of obtaining a visa in order to visit Tanzania. To answer your question, Indian citizens do indeed need a Tanzanian visa in order to enter the country. Applications for Tanzania visas from Indian citizens who intend to go to Tanzania are processed by the Tanzanian Embassy in New Delhi, which is located in India.

Do people in Zanzibar speak the English language?

Although Swahili is the native tongue of the people who live on Zanzibar Island, many of the island's residents are also proficient in English. Therefore, if you find yourself disoriented, simply try speaking some English words.

Which sect of Islam predominates in Zanzibar: Sunnis or Shias?

According to an estimate provided by the United States government, 99 percent of Zanzibar's 1.3 million population are Muslims. According to research that was published by the Pew Forum in 2012, the majority are Sunnis. The rest is made up of a number of Shia communities, the most of whom are of Asian heritage.

What was the previous name of the island of Zanzibar?

Tanganyika, a colony on the continent of Africa, merged with Zanzibar, an island territory, on April 26, 1964, to establish the United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. On October 29, 1964, this cumbersome name was shortened to "Tanzania," a combination of "Tanganyika" and "Tanzania."
